One of the most common questions in social media marketing is how often do I need to post? And as with most questions, the most common answer is, it depends. Well, what does it depend on? Mostly it depends on the platform you are talking about. Platforms such as; social media sites, apps, your website or your blog are used for different things. Consistency, quality, and age of content are all important to grow your audience and keep them engaged.

Different platforms refresh at different rates. Your website has the longest life. On your website it is important to make changes, add photos, update look, and keep information current. Customers can get frustrated and move on to another option if you have out of date price or service information. The bigger project of changing your website look is something that should be done every few years as styles and tastes change.

When it comes to social media apps and sites, these all require some daily attention, some more than others. For some platforms, unique posts everyday or multiple times per day, are not always necessary. Interaction with other users and companies is also valuable time spent on any platform. The value to consistent posting and interaction is not always measurable, but when a potential customers starts to search for a service. the more you interact, the easier you are to find, and more importantly find first.

So, why did I title this post “Hello, anyone there?” Because once you create a social media account, website or blog, you have said “Hi, I am here.” However, when you stop using them consistently, it looks like you are gone. When a customer finds you on one platform then follows your links to other platforms that are not all consistent or up to date, it can confuse them.

Instead, make sure you are saying “Hi, how can I help you today?” when everyone looks you up.
